In a concession statement released by his nephew Rashid Shafeeq, Awami Muslim League (AML) President Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that the independent candidates supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had won both of the Rawalpindi National Assembly constituencies.

Shafeeq said that Rashid conceded the loss in NA-56 and NA-57, Rawalpindi. He congratulated Shehryar Riaz and Seembia Tahir, the winners. He remarked, “We are happy that the PML-N also lost the election on these seats, but we are saddened by our defeat.”
