PayPal will start paying freelancers in Pakistan in February

The Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Dr. Umar Saif, has unveiled a pilot project, which is a big development for the freelance community in Pakistan.

The launch of this project, which is scheduled for February, is to make payments via PayPal easier for approximately 10,000 independent contractors.

Concurrent with the announcement, E-Rozgar Centers were opened nationwide as part of Tech Destination Pakistan.

Dr. Saif clarified that although PayPal isn’t setting up shop directly in Pakistan, a deal has been made to allow payments to be made through PayPal using a third-party middleman.

Because it removes the need for freelancers to open PayPal accounts, this innovative tool streamlines the payment process for them. This fosters and encourages entrepreneurship in Pakistan in addition to streamlining the procedure, which is in line with the overarching objective of creating a robust freelance ecosystem in the nation.
