LHC requests response to plea contesting Sher Afzal’s imprisonment

It was asked that the court presided over by Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry, set aside Marwat’s detention order and declare it to be invalid. The PTI leader’s release from the respondents in the case was also requested by the court until the petition’s resolution.

Petitioner Khalid Lateef Khan, Marwat’s brother, submitted the appeal through prominent attorney Latif Khosa, arguing that despite the law accompanying Marwat’s repeated pleas to the police officers, no FIR, arrest warrant, or detention order was displayed.
The attorney further emphasized that before December 14, no such intelligence report was accessible. He argued that the deputy commissioner and senior police officials had malicious intent, as evidenced by an intelligence report released the same day Marwat visited Lahore.

In the petition, Khosa begged the court to consider the fact that the detention order was issued “merely relying upon the assumption” and that there is no documentation of any past disturbances by Marwat.
The appeal went on to state that the PTI leader’s presence in the province capital posed no threat to public safety or peace, nor did it raise the possibility of a law and order issue.

Marwa t’s Arrest

On December 14, large police contingents detained Marwat under 3MPO for 30 days after receiving intelligence inputs indicating he may organize an ambush, targeting government buildings and sensitive facilities, disrupting peace, and harming innocent people’s lives.

He left the LHC after attending a lawyer’s convention, and when he approached the main gate, he was apprehended.
After a few arguments, he was asked to exit his car by police, and once he did, he was led over to a patrol car. After being brought to the Mozang police station, he was moved to the Kotlakhpat jail.
