Celebrity and businesswoman Faryal Makhdoom recently posted on Instagram about her personal style and expressed a need to improve her clothing selections. “I do want to start wearing more stylishly. “I’ve been working on it for the past few months, but it takes time like any change,” she said in a message to her fans. Makhdoom emphasized her dedication to modesty in spite of her public persona, noting that she likes to experiment with new styles but does not drink or party.
Makhdoom acknowledged her Muslim identity and stated that she planned to gradually make better fashion choices while keeping her Islamic convictions in mind. She wrote on Instagram, “I am conscious that I am a Muslim and, inshAllah, slowly but surely, it’s one of the things I am consciously working on.”
The celebrity talked about the difficulties of being in the spotlight as well, stating that although she avoids many events, some are required of her by contract. She emphasized that nasty remarks can have a negative impact on her as she manages her personal and professional lives, and she asked her followers to show empathy and understanding of the challenges she confronts.

In response to criticism about what she had worn while there, she explained that she had received an invitation to the film festival and that the trip had not been planned. Makhdoom emphasized that she couldn’t pass up the chance to visit Makkah while she was in the area and that her outfit was specifically planned for the celebration rather than Umrah.
“Despite the fact that I don’t need to explain myself to anyone I thought I’d clarify one thing, I’ve been to Umrah many times before but that particular visit was unplanned, I had been invited to the [Red Sea International Film Festival] so I flew down to attend, whilst I was there I couldn’t not visit Makkah which was one hour away from me, so I went.”
She responded to the ridiculous remarks by saying, “My Umrah trip wasn’t pre-planned, but my dress was.” My dress isn’t that exposing at all, and the remarks I’m receiving are ridiculous. I shouldn’t have to second-guess my decision to follow my passion because of the outfit I have chosen for the occasion. Makhdoom then reaffirmed her resolve to develop spiritually as a Muslim.
The businesswoman further stressed that she is not a hijabi and asked people to quit holding that expectation of her. She affirmed that she is not requesting to be a role model and expressed her happiness to be among like-minded people at the film festival who voiced their support for Palestine.
Yes, I do strive to become a better Muslim every day, and I will eventually, inshAllah, reach my goal. But one thing you should know is that I’m not a hijabi, so don’t expect me to dress like one. Actually, give up expecting anything from me. I’m not requesting to serve as your ideal. She continued, “I was glad to be in Saudi around many like-minded people who spoke up about Palestine at the film festival, which was an admirable thing to see and be a part of.”
Furthermore, Makhdoom responded with a hint of humor, joking that she wasn’t happy with the extent of a slit in her dress.
