Nawaz Sharif desires stronger connections with Afghanistan and India

The leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif, emphasized on Saturday the importance of bettering ties with neighbors, especially Afghanistan and India.

The politician stated, “During my time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee visited Pakistan,” while speaking to his party’s parliamentary board meeting in Lahore.

He emphasized the need of mend fences with neighbors, adding that Pakistan must also strengthen its connections with China and Iran.

The leader of the PML-N also promised to punish those responsible for the nation’s downfall.

“The country was thriving from 2013 to 2017 and the economy was better, however, good people were thrown out and Pakistan was handed to clumsy people.”

This was the second time that Nawaz had publicly advocated for holding those responsible for his removal accountable since his return to Pakistan in October following a self-imposed four-year exile.

Speaking to PML-N ticket contenders the day before, he had accused judges and former generals of bringing bogus accusations against him.

Nawaz began today’s speech by stating that, while being invisible, he was still in close mental proximity to the attendees, and he would never forget his friends and comrades.

“Development peaked and the economy was stronger during our era. The PML-N supremo stated, “We continue to pray that the nation is guided out of troubles.

He claimed that during his administration, the nation made development in many areas, but the last four years have been challenging for the country. “There were some elements who halted the country from thriving,” he stated.

The three-time prime minister stated that the population must understand that by 2022, everything in the nation had fallen and that economic catastrophe had begun in 2019. “If Shehbaz Sharif hadn’t taken over, the country would have defaulted.”

He recalled the 2013 election campaign, saying he refused to lie when requested [by the party leaders] to reassure the country that load shedding will end in six months.

“I promised not to mention anything that might tarnish my reputation. Because I don’t want to deceive the country, I had stated throughout the election campaign that load shedding will end in five years,” he stated.

Nawaz claimed that despite the PML-N consistently doing well, they were constantly removed from office. “I’m curious as to why my governments were toppled in 1999 and 1993. Was that because we disagreed with the Kargil War?” he said.

“We never back down when it comes to our nation. And because of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, nobody has the guts to strike it anymore,” Nawaz stated. “We have performed on economic, defence, and foreign fronts.”

Nawaz added that in order to promote national development, his party is offering tickets for the next general elections, which are scheduled for February 8 of next year
