Haris Rauf feels ‘undue criticism’ from all quarters

Haris Rauf, a bowler, is “upset over undue criticism” he has been receiving after Chief Selector Wahab Raiz made remarks on the pacer’s decision to withdraw from the Australia trip, according to The News on Friday.

The fast bowler, who is already in Karachi for the National T20 Championship, told the publication that he wanted to be in peak physical, mental, and form condition before returning to Test cricket.

“Look, Haris is furious with people who have unfairly criticized the pacers during the World Cup.” Even the most ignorant people are questioning his lack of consistent wicket-taking during World Cup matches and criticizing his form.

A fast bowler needs to prepare mentally for the big time in cricket. According to a close family source, Haris feels that he is not in the physical or mental condition necessary to play Test cricket, where players must remain alert for five days straight.

According to the source, Haris believed that in order to prepare himself both emotionally and physically for Tests and other international commitments, he should concentrate on the shorter form of the game.

It won’t be more than a few months before you witness him participating in every format of the game. Right now, he wants to focus only on Twenty20 cricket.

Chief selector Wahab Riaz revealed the 18-man Pakistan Test team earlier this week. The tour to Australia will consist of three matches, slated for December 14, 2023, to January 7, 2024.

During his first press conference as chief selector, Riaz stated that Haris had promised the cricket board he would play Test cricket for the national team, but he had to withdraw at the last minute, missing the series.

“It’s crucial to let you know about this so that everyone is aware of what’s happening,” Riaz told reporters, bringing up Rauf’s worries about potential health problems if he participated in the tour.

“We’ve made every effort to help him. I was prepared to accept it even if he didn’t succeed on this tour. According to our fitness guru, Rauf won’t face any problems going forward.

“He withdrew at the last minute, but we could have handled the problems.” The chief selector stated, “I think Pakistan would suffer from this.
