Mickey Arthur would probably be let go by PCB following the World Cup’s elimination

Following the Green Shirts’ dismal showing in the ICC World Cup 2023, insiders said that Director Mickey Arthur of the national men’s cricket team is likely to face the axe from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

In addition to Arthur, batting coach Andrew Puttick and head coach Grant Bradburn are also probably going to lose their jobs.

The reports claim that the PCB is eager to name native coaches for the national team.

Before departing for India, where he will attend an ICC conference on November 17, PCB Management Committee head Zaka Ashraf will meet with captain Babar Azam and other team management members in the coming days.

Ashraf will talk to Azam and the team management about Pakistan’s performance in the Asia Cup and World Cup.

The 1992 winners lost their fifth game in nine against the defending champions, England, on Saturday, ending their campaign short of reaching the semi-finals of the grand tournament in India.

Azam is thinking of giving up the captaincy, that is, giving up his position as team captain in white-ball cricket.

The 29-year-old has reportedly been talking to close friends and former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja about his future plans.

On Friday, as training was taking place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Azam asked Ramiz Raja for guidance.

Consultations upon his return to the nation will inform the decision about whether or not to continue as captain. Azam appreciates the guidance he gets in the present, especially from his father.

Azam has received advice from persons close to him suggesting that he resign from leadership roles in all three forms, expressing his unhappiness with the actions of the PCB and former cricket players.

The suggestion, according to several sources, is predicated on the idea that well-known captains have encountered difficulties during Test series in Australia. As a result, people close to Azam have suggested he resign from his positions as red and white-ball cricket captains.
