Pakistan conducted successful flight test of Ababeel weapon system

On Wednesday, Pakistan successfully tested the Ababeel Weapon system in flight. The test flight was intended to revalidate various designs, technical specifications, and performance assessments of various armament system subsystems.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the missile system aims to increase strategic stability in the area and reinforce deterrence through the operationalization of full spectrum deterrence under the framework of credible minimum deterrence.

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), senior commanders from the Strategic Plans Division and Strategic Forces Command, as well as scientists and engineers from strategic organizations, were present for the launch.

The CJCSC was grateful for everyone’s technical skill, devotion, and hard work in making the test a success.

All members of the Strategic Forces were commended on their accomplishments by the president, prime minister, and service commanders.

This surface-to-surface Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) underwent its initial test in 2017. Its several Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicles (MIRV) can shoot at several targets, making it the first MIRV payload in South Asia.
