Tomorrow, Nawaz Sharif will leave on a “private trip to Saudi Arabia”

Irfan Siddiqui, a senator for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has verified that Nawaz Sharif is still in the UK and will depart on a “private” trip to the Kingdom tomorrow (Wednesday), despite denying claims that the party leader was in Saudi Arabia.

The senator, who emphasized that the former prime minister’s trip to Saudi Arabia is private, told that the former leader has no intentions to meet with Saudi officials because he will be in the country to conduct Umrah and spend time with his son Hussain Nawaz.

The senator also informed the PML-N supremo that he will arrive in Pakistan on October 21 following a brief two-day visit in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The PML-N supremo has been residing in London since November 2019 due to health problems, following a self-imposed exile.

Regarding the possibility of Nawaz traveling to Qatar and China, Siddiqui stated that although the former prime minister has personal and diplomatic ties to these two states, there are currently no plans for travel there.

Siddqui made the remark in response to Nawaz Sharif’s planned speech in Lahore after arriving in Pakistan on October 21. “Nawaz Sharif’s speech at Minar-e-Pakistan would not be that of an ordinary politician but that of a visionary leader,” Siddqui remarked.

In addition, he emphasized that the PML-N upholds the “sanctity of [people’s] vote” and believes in the sovereignty of the legislature.

Nawaz will speak to a political gathering at the Pakistan Minaret

On that day, at 6 p.m., the Minar-e-Pakistan will host a public address by the ousted prime minister, senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah had already said.

It should be noted that the PML-N leader was granted permission by the high court in November 2019 to travel overseas for medical reasons after his medical reports indicated that he need immediate care.

He traveled to the UK and has been residing in London ever since the Lahore High Court (LHC) gave him permission to receive medical treatment.

Before Nawaz arrived, his legal team had finished the steps necessary to request protective bail from the court.

The new strategy was developed after conversations with the party’s top officials, including vice president Hamza Shehbaz, chief organizer of the PML-N Maryam Nawaz, and former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to party insiders.

Nawaz will be the lone speaker at the occasion; Shehbaz, Maryam, and other party officials had originally been planned to do the same.

According to sources, Nawaz would provide a narrative to the PML-N workers during his address. Chief Organiser Maryam is credited with the idea.
