Five years after the passing of Sridevi, one of Bollywood’s most recognizable stars, Bollywood filmmaker Boney Kapoor has spoken out about the tragedy.

Kapoor said he was certain that Sridevi had drowned to Death after looking at investigative files and “certain other evidence” in an interview with The New Indian on Monday.

“They also found out that no foul play occurred, and I underwent all of the rigorous questioning, including a lie detector test and other procedures. According to the post-mortem findings, the drowning death was an accident, he stated.

The director also asserted that his late wife’s declining health was a result of her adhering to a very rigorous diet. “Most women think that because salt causes water retention, you feel puffy. That was a factor. She shouldn’t fully avoid salt, I would also advise her. When eating salad, I would often ask mum to add a pinch of salt,” he recounted.

The fact that he was being treated like a suspect in his wife’s untimely death was another source of anger for Kapoor, who said: “Dubai Police told me that we had to go through [it] because there was pressure from Indian media.”

In a Dubai hotel room on February 24, 2018, Sridevi passed away unexpectedly. Her accidental drowning was officially determined to be the cause of death. but was the subject of conjecture.
