Pakistan requests that India guarantee the team’s safety

In light of the ICC World Cup 2023’s impending terror risks, Pakistan pleaded with the Indian Government on Thursday to give the cricket team impenetrable protection.

The request was made today at a weekly press briefing at the Foreign Office in the federal capital when Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch was asked to comment on media allegations of terror threats and visa delays for Pakistani fans and journalists.

Even though media representatives asked for visas well in advance of the huge competition, the Indian government has not yet issued them.

“The host country should provide protection to our cricket team in the ICC World Cup 2023,” she added, adding that the Indian government must foster a supportive climate.

The Indian government is being contacted, according to Baloch, who expressed the hope that the visas would be provided quickly.

A spokeswoman for the FO cautioned New Delhi against fusing sports and politics.

“India should not prevent Pakistani fans from watching the World Cup as the host nation.”

Increased security in Ahmedabad

In the meantime, the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad is under threat from terrorism, and the Indian government has increased security measures and raised the alert level.

More than 3,000 police officers have been stationed in and around the arena, which will hold a total of five matches, including the tournament’s opening match, Pakistan-India encounter, and final, as reported by the Indian media.

According to the media, spectators will only be permitted to take their mobile phones inside the stadium due to the tight security procedures.

In order to reduce security risks, the stadium’s entrance road will also stay closed throughout the events.

The massive event will get underway on Thursday with an in-stadium match between England and New Zealand.

From October 5 to November 19, 10 nations will compete for the coveted World Cup in India during the ICC World Cup 2023.

All teams will compete against one another for a total of 45 league matches during the round-robin event.
