Advantages of One Umbrella

The Advantage of Having your Billing, MIPS, and Patient Satisfaction Surveys All Under One Umbrella

When you go to a restaurant, most patrons would agree that having to pay separately for an appetizer, entrée and dessert is just not quite as appealing as getting all three as part of your meal charge. The same can be said for anesthesia vendor services. Practices want simplicity and transparency in pricing, to include Billing, Mips reporting, and Patient Satisfaction Surveys, all under one umbrella and for a single, low fee.

Advantages of a Holistic Approach

The advantages to such a holistic solution are as follows:

First, it simplifies the invoicing process. Instead of having to make multiple payments each month to different vendors, groups have a single rate, which is automatically deducted from their billing collections.

Second, it’s a more efficient process. MIPS and Patient Satisfaction Survey vendors rely on extract files from billing companies to perform their respective tasks. When these functions are handled by the same entity, both time and money are saved, which can be passed on to the client.

Third is data integrity. When a single firm is handing everything, information is linked by a unique case identifier, which makes the output cleaner. This is especially important for MIPS numerator and denominator calculations, as it pertains to a practice’s overall composite score (determines CMS’ annual incentive payments or penalties).

MSN Healthcare Solutions

MSN Healthcare Solutions is one of the only Revenue Cycle Management companies that has invested in the development of these value-adds for our clients.

Groups using our billing service have the peace of mind knowing that in addition to optimizing collections, MSN can seamlessly collect MIPS and survey data on their behalf. This allows practices to focus on clinical care and to leave the rest to their trusted billing partner.

Value of Reporting MIPS

The value proposition for reporting MIPS is an easy one. Like it or not, value-based insurance payments are here to stay. Unless you’re exempt from reporting (i.e., part of an Alternative Payment Model), you must participate to avoid a large Medicare penalty two years down the road.

The 2022 CMS Final Rule increased the composite score performance threshold from 60 to 75 points, which must be met to avoid a payment adjustment of up to -9%.

Conversely, the exceptional performance threshold increased from 85 to 89 points, making it more challenging to benefit financially from the program (+4% to +15%) without a carefully selected measure set.

Value of Reporting Patient Satisfaction Surveys

The value proposition for Patient Satisfaction Surveys includes retaining existing contracts through proof of exceptional customer service, having an advantage over competitors in the RFP process with prospective sites, using survey-related MIPS measures such as AQI 48 and ePreop 30, negotiating higher hospital stipends and managed care unit rates, and changing the narrative on less than ideal patient experiences through outreach programs, which can improve your practice’s social media reviews.
