Starting a new career or transitioning to a full-time position can be both exciting and daunting. It can be especially challenging if you’re trying to make the jump from part-time to full-time work, but it’s definitely possible with some planning and hard work.
Here’s how I went from part-time to crushing it full-time in just one year:
- I identified my strengths and passions. Before I even began looking for a full-time position, I took some time to reflect on my strengths and passions. I knew that I wanted to find a career that would allow me to utilize my skills and interests to their full potential.
- I networked and reached out to professionals in my field. Networking can be intimidating, but it’s an essential part of finding a job and advancing in your career. I reached out to professionals in my field and asked for advice, introductions, and recommendations.
- I gained experience and continued to learn. In addition to networking, I also worked on gaining experience in my field. I took on freelance or part-time work, and I made sure to continue learning and improving my skills.
- I searched for full-time positions and customized my resume and cover letter. When I was ready to start looking for a full-time position, I customized my resume and cover letter to highlight my strengths and relevant experience. I also made sure to tailor my application materials to each specific job that I applied for.
- I practiced for interviews and was prepared to negotiate. Interviews can be nerve-wracking, but I made sure to practice and prepare beforehand. I also did my research on salary and benefits so that I could negotiate a fair offer when the time came.

It wasn’t easy, but with hard work and determination, I was able to transition from part-time to full-time work in just one year. If you’re looking to make the same transition, don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and take chances. It may not happen overnight, but with persistence and a positive attitude, you can achieve your career goals.
