OK Go Resolves Lawsuit with Post Foods Regarding Instant Cereal

The first article on Consequence was OK Go and Post Foods settle a Lawsuit over Instant Cereal.

OK Go was involved in a bizarre lawsuit with Post Foods in January over the right to use the band’s name on a line of OK Go! instant Cereal cups. Now, the two parties have reached a private settlement and asked a federal judge in Minnesota to permanently dismiss the lawsuit.

As per Bulletin, the court documentation said the band and the oat goliath had “settled this activity based on conditions pleasant to all gatherings” without determining the provisions of the understanding out in the open court records. As a result, it is unclear whether OK Go! will be compensated or not. The brand will continue under a new name.

The band, on the other hand, released a statement on social media that read: “The litigation with Post over the OK GO trademark was resolved pursuant to a confidential settlement agreement and Post has agreed to withdraw its application to register ‘OK GO!'” as a brand name with the US Licenses and Brand name Office.”

In September 2022, OK Go sent Post a cease-and-desist letter stating that the company’s OK Go! The band’s endorsement of Post’s merchandise would be implied by the brand name. A week later, Post’s attorney responded with the argument that the group and breakfast cereal were “clearly unrelated” products.

Post filed a complaint in response in January, asserting that the business would be “unfairly forced to continue investing in its new OK GO! brand despite the constant threat of unfounded future defendant litigation.” In an explanation to Board, alright Go said they were surprised by the claim and bludgeoned Post for attempting to “menace us out of our own name.”

In a Season 2 episode of the Apple TV+ children’s show Hello, Jack!, OK Go made an appearance. The Consideration Show last October. Hungry Ghosts, their last album, came out in 2014.
