Interview: Kenise Etwaru the Executive Leadership Coach

Russ Turner – Kenise its a pleasure to have you as a guest on Business Digest Magazine, we are look forward to sharing your insights and story with our audience.

Can you tell us about your background and what led you to where you are today?

Of course. I enjoy sharing my background, because I’m very proud of where I came from and how it has helped to develop me into the woman I am today. I’m originally from Guyana, South America and my parents moved our family to the United States so that my sister and I could get a better education. I pursued my education in Business and Psychology and focused my career in Human Resources.

I have worked for major for profits and non-profits as well, but primary enjoyed working with organizations that are mission oriented.

I found my HR passion in building HR departments from the ground up. I later ventured into having my own HR consulting firm, started my own publishing company during the midst of the pandemic in addition to being a 3x best-selling author. I am also a certified executive leadership coach and women empowerment coach.

I also sing and play piano!

You are an executive leadership coach what exactly does that entail and how do you help your clients?

There’s so much involved in being an executive leadership coach, but here’s the simple definition of my kind of executive leadership coaching -POTENTIAL. TALENT. SUCCESS. I work with intentional thought leaders who have potential but feel stuck in their careers.

I coach them by honing their key talents that will make them more successful. In a nutshell, I work with individuals who make 5-figure salaries and help scale them up to 6-figures salaries in their career path. So exciting! Love to see my clients win!

What would I expect to receive from you if I hired you as a coach?

Love this question. What I deliver to my clients can be summed up in 3 words, why 3 words, you may ask?, because no one would remember the other words if I had more words LOL.  ELEVATE. FULFILLMENT. IMPACT.

I customize a plan for my clients that take their thinking to a whole new level. Of course, as an HR guru, II thoroughly interview potential clients before I move forward with them to ensure they have the potential to elevate their thinking and mindset.

Once the elevation is achieved, there’s automatic fulfilment. My clients are happier and already feel like winners with just the simple task of elevating their mindset.

The last phase is impact. I customize a plan with my clients with deliverables that make an impact in their lives and or businesses. My clients see substantial changes within their first week of working with me.

Have you ever faced any personal struggles that you believe have made you stronger and how did you overcome them?

Yes, of course. I won’t say that I love struggles or encourage struggles in my life; however, the struggles in my life have helped me turn my pain into purpose. I’ve learnt through my years of coaching and mentoring that struggles are real, but it’s how you deal with them that will make all the difference in someone fulfilling their purpose and destiny that has been designed for their life.

You are also a published author, what is your book about and what does the reader get out of it?

I am a published author….WHOOOHOOO! I wrote my first book, “The Good Wife and the Other Woman”, thinking that no one would read it. Writing that book was my therapy after going through a horrible divorce. Little did I know that with over 200,000 copies sold in the first year, I was America’s leading women empowerment coach, with this Bible for single and married women. I even have men calling me to coach their wives. It’s crazy.

In addition to my first book, I’m have my own book collaboration and have participated in a few other book collaborations with some amazing individuals who are movers and shakers.

3x best-selling author later…. I continue to write and will be releasing my next book in the Spring/Early Summer. I can’t wait! It’s going to epic!

We've mentioned your books, but which business, marketing or self-help books do you recommend and why?

- “Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren

- “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill

- “The Effective Executive” by Peter Drucker

- “Crushing It” by Gary Vaynerchuck

When things get tough who or where do you turn to for hope and guidance?

I turn to my sister. She’s my only sibling and I love her to the moon and back. Even though she’s my baby sister, she is extremely smart and knows how to keep me grounded when times get rough. In addition to her, I turn to God. He’s my ultimate source of life, hope, strength, peace and joy.

You are also a speaker, what events have you spoken at and how should someone contact you for a future speaking opportunity?

I am. I love speaking. It’s one of my passions. I have spoken in international and national events, about 10-15 speaking engagements per year. They range from Human Resources Summits, conferences, workshops and training sessions. Some of speaking topics are listed on my website. My audience ranges from youths, CEO’s, couples, women and business owners. To learn more about having me speak at your next event, please contact me through my website at www.KeniseEtwaru.com. I would love to hear from you.

Which entrepreneurs or business professionals do you look up to in business and why?

There are so many famous entrepreneurs I look up to; but ultimately, I look up to all the small business owners out there. They are the real entrepreneurs who have built their companies from scratch, from nothing into 6 & 7 figure businesses. I take my hat off to them because I am one of them as well!

What legacy do you wish to leave to the World?

I absolutely love this question. This is one of my favourite topics I’m super passionate to talk about. I’m all about leaving legacy. Part of the reason why I partnered with my sister to launch our own publishing company in the middle of the pandemic was to help individuals Turn Their Vision into Legacy. That’s the tagline of our publishing company.

I want to be remembered when I’m no longer on this earth as a woman of character, integrity and history maker. Against all odds, I didn’t allow situations, circumstances or haters to stop me from creating and building legacy that will be passed down for generations to come in my lineage.
