An Inside Interview with Daniella Green:

Leadership Strategist/Minority Strategist for Minorities in the Tech, Oil & Gas Industries at Slaypedia

Russ Turner - Welcome Daniella it's a pleasure to have you... Can you start by telling us about yourself and your company Slaypedia?

Daniella Green - Thank you Russ I'm delighted to be interviewed today.  Yes of course, I'm a Leadership Strategist from Houston TX, and I work with minorities in the tech, oil & gas industries to assist them in pivoting into leadership roles. I work primarily with black women in helping them to advance.

Slaypedia was created due to my understanding of the lack of resources available to people of colour as it pertains to advancement in the tech world, oil, and gas. My entire platform is dedicated to empowerment, inspiration, and motivation.

I have worked closely with developing and helping minorities advance in executive leadership at companies like ConocoPhillips, Viacom, Shell Oil, and the Amazon partnership program, helping minority owned companies secure business with them. I have also worked with The Haiti Medical Grant Programs and South Africa’s Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) to help in the advancement of black engineers in the gas & oil world.

How did your experience in Corporate America inspire you to become a Leadership Strategist to minorities?

At the young age of 23, I began a fast-paced climb to the top in the oil and gas industry before branching out to pave the way for many women just like her to come following behind. As a woman of colour, educated, driven, and a desire to constantly get more out of her career, I know first-hand of the complexities that women of colour face and women in general.

I have made it my mission to dedicate my time to assisting other women of colour in finding the confidence to advance their careers & businesses. I have created my platform to help eliminate the guessing games, the fear of not knowing “how”, and to teach minorities how to win in the “Good Ole Boys” world. I saw a way to bridge the gap and accomplish my goals in predominately white male industries and am assisting women all throughout the world in attaining their career goals.

How can Corporate America lacks assist minorities in achieving leadership roles and how can they bridge the gap?

I feel like representation is especially important. They can encourage more diversity and inclusion, eliminate nepotism, and recruit at more HBCU’s.

Tell us about your newest project, Transfer Green, and how going green is going to be an important factor in business in the coming years?

I am the Founder of the only consulting firm in Texas exclusively working with small/minority owned companies to align and secure opportunities with big tech & green tech as they expand into Texas.

She also works with Texas based companies to:

o Secure city & state government contracts for city & State updates and development as the Texas industry changes

o Develop unique strategies to aid them in developing green initiatives

o Green programs/ green initiatives to qualify them for tax incentives and governmental compliance

o Programs that will reduce their carbon print

o Diversity and inclusion programs rollouts

As organizations move to Texas it is my duty to successfully merge them within the Texas infrastructure as far as oil and gas companies and companies that need to go green. Transfer Green will connect them with the resources and opportunities to stay within the state of Texas instead of having to outsource.

Can you explain what is the most important thing to highlight on your resume when looking to pivot to a leadership role?

Your resume should reflect your skill set. Explain how your skill set problem solves instead of detailing your roles and responsibilities. This will help you stand out more to potential leadership roles and show how you have utilized the skills.

How is LinkedIn important in searching for your next career and what are some tips to get noticed by potential recruiters?

97% of our biggest recruiters are on LinkedIn and this opens a massive amount of opportunity for you to find your next leadership role.

I would again highlight the skill set to show how you problem solve in your About section. You want to also create your preferences as Open to Work and set that to only recruiters. This will allow the opportunity for recruiters to seek you out for opportunities and keep your next move private until you can share the great advancement news of the potential new job opportunity.

Can you tell us about your Master Class and why it is a great idea for people to join?

I have created a leadership career program geared toward black and brown women to push into leadership called “The $200K Career Blueprint” to develop emerging women who feel stuck and are ready to pivot into senior leadership/executive leadership roles in Corporate America.

As a black woman who was in executive leadership in oil and gas, I know the challenges, know the negotiations, resume development, prep for leadership interviews and much more to help you land your next big career opportunity.

Well Daniella that concludes our interview for today, you have provided us with some great answers to share with the Business Digest community, we wish you continued happiness and success as you dominate life and business 2021.
