Are Private office spaces going to be the new normal in post-COVID era?

Too soon to use the word ‘Post-COVID’? I hope not.

We all hope for sooner access to the vaccine for everyone with dawn of a New Year.

COVID-19 has changed the way all of us work, interact and collaborate with our co-workers, customers and suppliers. In the years before the pandemic, the business world had seen a trend toward open Office spaces. With the hopes that removing physical barriers would lead to increased collaboration between employees and tear down metaphorical, many big firms had bid adieu to the cubicle.

However, that did not work out. A study found that there was a decrease in productivity and collaboration among workers who moved from a traditional (conventional) office setting to an open setting. Now, the coronavirus pandemic has introduced numerous reasons to be cautious about an open office setting.

Although social distancing and Zoom meeting have provided good alternatives for team work and collaboration, when one is on a deadline and working alone at home or even if one is just trying to hear themselves think, you miss the right office environment. In these times, nothing beats privacy.

Here, we list out the benefits of private office space.

  1. “Importance of Privacy”

Even the most sociable or self-proclaimed ‘extrovert’ among us craves for some degree of privacy. There is something about not having walls around our computers, phones, and personal work items that gives us that recurring naked-in-school dream feeling. Even if not all eyes are on our email, we feel like they are or could be at any second.

What about sensitive information? No client wants their confidential matters made easily readable and available to all who step foot on your floor. A private space with no other eyes but your own eliminates that constant worry.

Then there is the personal call, which everyone has to take in during work hours. Who wants to reschedule an appointment or inquire about their kid has upset tummy within easy earshot of all their co-workers? Not us.

  1. “Boost your Productivity”

There seems to be clear link between open-setting offices and a decrease in productivity. Mostly, it is because of all the distraction. Without walls to reduce the sounds and sights of your colleagues, your office has, turned into a giant locker room. You might be working on an important deliverable, but since you do not have a closed space, you could be listening to an entire episode of previous-weekend rundown by the gossipy colleague nearby. These problems disappear with a private office.  In case you are looking for private office space in Chennai or any other city, get in touch with us.

  1. “Happiness and Health Factor”

Given our recent education on the spread of viruses and, it doesn’t take much thinking to understand how office walls would be beneficial for worker’s health and well- being. People with private offices or Office Spaces are also happier as they tend to be less stressed, and are able to concentrate better. Once the health and happiness quotient of the workers is on the rise, so is the productivity and eventually profits!
