We are excited to announce that we have been starting to use sustainable and compostable packaging over the usual mailers for the majority of our orders.

We are using the mailers from Hero Packaging and we are pretty excited about it.

Hero Packaging is providing “Earth-saving, compostable, zero-waste packaging”.

They are based in Sydney, Australia and they found a replacement for the plastic mailers. They designed mailers that were home compostable but also being made from materials that if they ended up in a landfill, and still breakdown with no waste.

They acknowledge that compostable mailers aren’t the perfect solution. But they are the best solution for now.  They are robust in shipping, have double strips so they can be reused and are certified by Australian BioPlastics as home compostable.

In-Store Shop

As some of our customers may be aware, we have recently given our reception a bit of a “refreshment”. Not to say that the old layout wasn’t ok but it has been years since we have been able to provide our reception with a bit of TLC.

We took advantage of the WA 5 day lockdown in February to begin the makeover.

Today, it is almost complete. Just a few small things to finish off.

All of our in-store products are back on the wall with new items as well. Some of our new items on the wall are some WAU DOG collars and Black Dog Vests (I’m in training/Give me space).

Although we only have a small selection of Stock available in our reception, more of it can be ordered through our online store, and we will even take special order requests (and attempt to facilitate as best as we can)!

We still have the popular Mendota Dog Slip Leads and Gentle Leader Dog Halti in-store and online!

Why do we only carry a small amount of stock?

If you are wondering why we only have a small selection of stock in-store, then allow us to provide you with an answer.

As a company, that supplies goods and services, there can be factors that impact what we can offer you. Purchasing large quantities of products always has its risks, and also limits the variety that can be offered. It is not always easy purchasing the right products, and it can produce a lot of dead stock and therefore waste.

As part of our green thinking, we want to limit waste and a key area here is the build-up of unsold stock.

In continuing to support our progress towards being more sustainable, we only order in stock that we need. Placing small orders, often. We also aim to keep our purchases local as possible. Reducing any waste that comes with orders being posted to us.

Does this mean that stock on your online shop may be “virtual stock”?

Yes, this does mean that a fair amount of the products listed online are “virtual”. Based on specific wholesalers who we work closely with to keep the stock quantities as accurate as possible.

The majority of this stock we can have ready for pick up and in the post within 12 to 24 hours during weekdays.
