RGRHCL nodal agency is helping the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) allotting free dwelling units to pourakarmikas in 3 phases. These units come under ‘Gruha Bhagya Scheme.’ To elaborate further on the construction in each phase that MCC builds, it constitutes a three-storied building in the first phase with 3 to 2 houses of size 303 sq. ft.

The civic workers are given 1 BHK unit. In phases 2 and 3, the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) talks to revise the area size of corresponding flats per se from 303 sq. ft to 505 sq. ft. In Mahakalipadu place, the units are proposed to be built, and around 64 flats construction is on the cards.

In urban areas, the Karnataka government builds affordable houses for needy people. For example, the chief in-charge minister of Belagavi district has announced the three-storied dwelling units for pourakarmikas of Gokak Municipal Corporation. Around 1.3 crore rupees are invested for the housing complex [ Ground + two floors] in Gokak as per the statement given by the in-charge minister. This facility is provided under the Gruha Bhagya scheme. The government plans to extend the same towards building such housing complexes within the state. Slum clearance and other nodal agencies will take part in the construction activities.

Conclusively, the state government plans on these lines and aims to provide free houses to all pourakarmikas.
