DPL resuming operations

One way or another every industry, and every individual, has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve had to get used to what is commonly being described as the ‘new normal’, whether that’s while working, exercising, walking the dog or simply shopping for groceries. Some sectors have shut down completely, some have had to step up their game to meet new and different demands, and others are aiming to find a balance somewhere in between. The sight of closed businesses, distanced queues and empty streets has become commonplace. And you can add to that silent, empty building sites.

However, as lockdown is being eased and businesses are looking to get back to work, that is starting to change.

Here at DPL we made a decision to temporarily close our sites for the safety of both staff and clients. However, though the sites might have been idle, the business certainly hasn’t been. We’ve been hard at work defining our own new normal, and it’s an approach that has safety front and centre. That in itself isn’t new – we’ve always been conscientious about issues of health and safety on our sites – but now we’ve added an additional set of protocols to account for COVID-19.

People will travel to sites in separate vehicles, where possible, and team numbers on site will be limited, to allow for safe distancing. All teams have been issued with sanitiser packs to wipe down tools, equipment, machines, vehicles and welfare areas. Nothing is being left to chance, and with the implementation of these new procedures, our sites are beginning to reopen.

You will no doubt be going through a similar process and working out the new normal for your own business. If you have put a steel building project on hold in the interim, we fully understand and support your decision. However, if now is the time for you to get the ball rolling on that, you can rest assured that we are ready to help.

We’ve already had both existing and new customers contact us asking about lead times and whether we are able to work. The answer to the second question is yes, and we are phasing the reopening of our sites. We already have a few teams back on sites and our Supply Chain is coming back into operation.

The answer to the first question is a little more tricky. Because of the new way of working – for us, for our supply chain and for clients – firm project dates aren’t easy to give. However, we would urge you not to delay but to get in touch now. There are still many businesses that want to complete their builds in 2020 and we anticipate a surge in demand hitting very soon. Putting your enquiry in now could mean you avoid being at the back of a long queue. Contact us to discuss how we can help and we’ll talk you through our processes and procedures. While those may have changed, our commitment to providing the best possible steel building solutions to clients hasn’t. Having implemented safe working practices to help deal with the impact of COVID-19, we’re back open for business and raring to go.
