Jaguars and City of Jacksonville officials began working toward a long-term stadium solution in July 2020 with a thorough engineering assessment of the current stadium, TIAA Bank Field. The assessment concluded that it was possible to resolve the stadium challenges through renovation of the city facility versus new construction.

An in-depth survey of fans and other key stakeholders followed along with a comprehensive selection process for a design partner. Following its selection as an architect for the project team, the Sports + Recreation + Entertainment practice collaborated with the Jaguars to turn the concepts into more definitive renovation plans.

“This transformation goes beyond the boundaries of the stadium. The design creates an iconic and accessible community bond that ties together the surrounding neighborhood and riverfront,” said Peter Broeder, design principal. “The venue will celebrate Jacksonville’s natural landscape and climate, offering a park-like atmosphere enriched with the latest amenities, engaging social spaces and advanced technology. This unprecedented project will position Jacksonville as a premier destination for world-class sports and entertainment events for decades to come.”

“Equally important, this project will provide a development boost to existing districts around the sports complex, such as the OUTEAST neighborhood. Our goal is simple—to maximize every ounce of positive impact made possible by this project so that all Jacksonville residents can benefit.”

Over the next two weeks, the Jaguars will host a series of Huddle Up Jax events where residents and fans can learn more about the Stadium of the Future designs. The bulbs will be on site at community centers, which will be strategically located throughout the city to ensure access to all of Duval County.
