Tech Mahindra Launches TechMVerse to Drive Commerce in the Metaverse

Tech Mahindra, an IT services firm, announced the launch of TechMVerse, its Metaverse practice, which will allow customers to create immersive experiences and transact in the Metaverse. In collaboration with hyper-scalers and startups, the company would build this platform based on its 5G and infrastructure capabilities.

According to CP Gurnani, CEO, Tech Mahindra, they are launching this independently, but there will be use cases for platforms launched by hyperscalers. They enable meta commerce, and 5G will allow us to do so.

The company will focus on various use cases initially, including DealerVerse, a metaverse-based car dealership, Middlemist, an NFT marketplace, Meta Bank, a virtual bank, and a gaming center. It will provide immersive digital and professional experience services in design, content, and low-code plug-and-play Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and Blockchain platforms.

The bottommost layer is infrastructure, and the topmost layer is human experience management, where they have leading capabilities, said Gurnani. He also added that the company would play a role across all seven layers, including devices and machines, IoT, spatial computing, and web 3.0.

According to the company, Tech Mahindra has also collaborated with Mahindra & Mahindra to launch a series of digital collectibles that will be sold through Tech Mahindra’s NFT Marketplace platform.

Apart from TechM, other Indian IT leaders such as Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, HCL Technologies, Wipro, Persistent Systems, and Mphasis have big plans in this area.

Infosys announced last week the launch of a Metaverse Foundry to help businesses explore the Metaverse, including virtual and augmented environments for their customers, workplaces, products, and operations. According to the report, while Microsoft and Meta (formerly Facebook) have invested heavily in the virtual reality Metaverse, it plays a significant role in education, pharma, and automotive.

Most Tech Mahindra’s Metaverse work is currently being done in four of its labs in Hyderabad, Pune, London, and Dallas. The company currently employs about 100 people on this project to train up to 1000 engineers in the first year.
