SIX Trainers: Nutrition Tips and Snack Alternatives

Beating a Snack craving can be an uphill battle, and sometimes your stomach takes the win over your mind. At SIX Epic Human Xperience, we believe that nutrition is a cornerstone of your health and wellness. We understand that maintaining control can be a challenge, but stress the importance of healthy eating habits, even when snacking!

We’re not saying eliminate your favorite treats, but switch them out more often for snacks that will leave you satisfied! Not sure where to start? Don’t worry! We won’t leave you high and dry without a few alternatives, because we practice what we preach!

The trainers and nutritionist at SIX Workout have put together their best advice for better eating habits and a shortlist of their favorite snacks for you to try! It’s just another way that we support you on your fitness journey!

Nutrition Tips and Snack Alternatives

Evan, Trainer

TIP: “Individually baggie up your “snacks” for portion control and DO NOT eat more than 1 bag. If you’re super busy and eat for convenience then prep foods for a few days on your day off. If you don’t eat it then you’re literally throwing your money away.”

Snack Alternatives:

  • Baby carrots
  • Greek yogurt with berries
  • Ants on a log
  • Peanut butter and whole-wheat toast
  • Apples

Taylor, Trainer

TIP: “DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!! Plan your meals ahead of time. If you do decide to eat a snack, choose something healthy like fruit or nuts.”

Snack Alternatives:

  • Strawberries
  • Pistachios
  • Dark chocolate
  • Cashews
  • Bell peppers with hummus

Sofee, SIX Manager / Trainer

TIP: “Make eating its own activity. For example, don’t watch TV and eat at the same time. Be DONE eating after dinner, and don’t keep unhealthy snacks at home.”

Snack Alternatives:

  • Greek yogurt and protein granola
  • Hummus and veggies
  • Fruit and a handful of almonds
  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Turkey slices wrapped around carrots or pickles

Rachel, SIX Nutritionist

TIP: “Create an eating schedule. Let’s say you eat breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and before bed snack. If this is when you usually like to eat, keep this schedule and don’t break it. In between these meals, the kitchen is closed.”

Snack Alternatives:

  • 20g protein bars
  • Yogurt with fresh berries
  • Low-fat jerky
  • Whole wheat toast with jam
  • 100 calorie packs of popcorn

Making the switch to healthier alternatives is recommended to maintain a nutritious diet. Whether you practice moderation with your favorite snacks or make the complete switch to a healthy alternative, you’re taking control of your nutrition! Be sure to remember these tips the next time you make a pit-stop in the kitchen. Now, the next question is: which snack alternative will you try?!
