In a noteworthy initiative, Dubai has inaugurated a dedicated Sewing Facility catering to inmates, a project spearheaded by the Dubai Police’s General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments, in collaboration with the Danube Group.

The primary aim of this Facility is to provide inmates with an avenue to learn, train, and acquire sewing skills that can enable them to earn a living and provide for their families, as explained by Brigadier Marwan Abdul Karim Julfar, Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments. Brigadier Julfar emphasized that upon completing their sentences, the inmates will also have the opportunity to embark on a respectable career path, guiding them towards a positive reintegration into society.

Operated under the guidance of seasoned professionals, the sewing facility is designed to produce fashion items and garments that align with the preferences of the local market, as noted by Shabnam Nassar, the facility’s director. The products crafted by the inmates will eventually be introduced to the public market.

Integral to the rehabilitation and reintegration process, the facility serves as an educational and training center, imparting vocational skills to inmates. Brigadier Julfar extended gratitude to the Danube Group for its steadfast support for both male and female inmates. He highlighted the company’s instrumental role in nurturing the inmates’ professional and educational development journey, whether by aiding them in establishing projects post-release or fostering future career prospects.

Rizwan Sajan, Executive Director of the Danube Group, conveyed his appreciation for the productive collaboration with the Dubai Police. He commended the force for its significant and humane role in enhancing safety and security within the community.
