CDA distributes 7,000 Seed Balls in Islamabad in Efficient Afforestation Campaign

Islamabad: The Environmental Department of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad has distributed 7,000 Seed Balls to residents at the Trail 5 location as part of efficient afforestation campaign. These seed balls, containing various types of seeds, were distributed for planting during the Monsoon season.

According to details, the survival rate of seed balls is 80% higher compared to traditional seeds. Seed balls are also known as Earth Balls, as they involve encasing seeds in a mixture of soil and clay, making it easy to plant without the need for extensive digging. This makes seed balls one of the most efficient and effortless methods for afforestation.

Furthermore, seed balls have the advantage of potentially spreading vegetation without extensive soil disturbance. This method involves simply throwing or placing the seed balls on the ground, allowing them to germinate and grow in harmony with the local environment.

This type of afforestation is also referred to as aerial reforestation, and the Monsoon or rainy season is considered the ideal time for its implementation.

Afforestation through seed balls not only results in faster tree growth but also reduces overall costs. This environmentally friendly approach is a significant step toward preserving and expanding green spaces in the city.
