Islamabad: In a significant development, the Election Commission has stepped in to suspend the issuance of NOCs (No Objection Certificates) for housing societies by the Punjab caretaker government.

Detailed reports indicate that the Election Commission has formally communicated its concerns to Punjab’s Caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, and the Provincial Chief Secretary. The focal point of their correspondence revolves around apprehensions regarding the issuance of NOCs to private societies.

The correspondence notably underscores the paramount need for transparency in the NOC implementation process, explicitly emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption. As part of this intervention, the Election Commission has further called for a temporary halt on deputy commissioners in Punjab granting NOCs.
