CDA Takes Measures to Ensure Cleanliness During Eid-ul-Adha

Under the chairmanship of a member of the Environment Department, an important meeting took place as per the instructions of the Chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA), in Islamabad. The meeting was attended by the DC Islamabad, DG Civic Management, Sanitation Directorate, and other CDA officers.

During the meeting, the member of the Environment Department emphasized the importance of providing excellent cleaning services to the citizens of Islamabad on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha to ensure a hassle-free experience for them.

To achieve this goal, the CDA administration has cancelled the leave of the cleaning staff and mobilized more than 150 vehicles and over 2500 personnel for special cleaning operations to manage animal waste. The city has been divided into four zones, with each Zone assigned specific areas to ensure effective results.

Zone one includes F5, F6, Blue Area, Syedpur, Bari Imam, Faisal Masjid, E7, F7, F8, and G8. Zone two covers F-11, Golra Sharif, G-9, G-11, and other areas. Zone three consists of sectors H8, H9, H10, H11, I8, I9, I10, and I11. Lastly, zone four includes Highway, Model Village Hamak, Shehzad Town, Rawal Town, Margalla Town, Lahtrar Road, Bhara Kahu, and more.

Each zone will be supervised by a Chief Sentry Inspector, while sentry inspectors and supervisors will be responsible for overseeing the sectors. The Sanitation Directorate’s staff holidays have been cancelled during Eid-ul-Adha, and around 2500 workers, including sweepers, supervisory staff, and officers, will be on duty to ensure the city remains clean on an emergency basis.

Over 150 vehicles will also be deployed for this special cleaning campaign, including garbage compactors, skip lifters, truck dumpers, front loaders, shovels, and dozers. Additionally, 97 pits have been dug at 45 different locations to dispose of sacrificial animal carcasses and other waste items. Two emergency cells have been established for continuous communication with the Sanitation Department’s head office.

The CDA administration has appealed to the citizens of Islamabad to avoid slaughtering sacrificial animals and prioritize the communal altar to facilitate prompt collection and disposal. Furthermore, citizens are urged not to throw waste in drains, forests, garbage trolleys, or skips, as non-cooperation may lead to the spread of foul odours and diseases in the city.

DC Islamabad has instructed all Assistant Commissioners to ensure compliance with the proper disposal of furniture in designated areas, including urban and rural residential areas, and private, and cooperative housing societies. Failure to comply may result in strict legal action.

In line with the instructions of Chairman Capital Development Authority Captain Noor Ul Amin Mengal, biodegradable plastic bags will be distributed in selected urban and rural areas of Islamabad during Eid-ul-Adha, enabling citizens to safely dispose of animal remains.

To provide the best facilities to citizens during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays, the Department of Sanitation of the Capital Development Authority has released helpline numbers. Citizens can contact the helpline at any time during the holidays. The sanitation helpline numbers are 1334 or 9213908 for garbage collection or cleaning-related inquiries.
