LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has initiated an Internal Audit to combat the fraudulent practices of double compensation/exemption in its land records. 

As per credible sources, numerous complaints of double compensation/exemption had been pending with the LDA for some time now.

It has been revealed that special attention will be paid to plots allocated in Johar Town during the scrutiny process. 

This move comes after the LDA recently faced disgrace when one of its directors, along with several other officers, was apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) for unlawfully allotting 27 plots using a counterfeit file.

Subsequently, the ACE wrote a letter to the Chief Town Planner (CTP) demanding the submission of records of plots exchanged from 2018 to 2023. 

To ensure that the process is transparent and free from any such illegal activity, the Director General of LDA has formed a committee to scrutinize the files currently being processed, but not part of the inventory list of 2017.

The committee members include LDA’s Director IT Basit Qamar, Director Record Management Ms. Humaira Sharif, Director Housing-VII Shahid Naeem, Deputy Director of Land Acquisition Uzair Bin Tariq, Deputy Director Housing-VI Jehangir Iqbal Mayo and Assistant Director Accounts Zahid Siddique.

Moreover, the committee will provide clear recommendations regarding the inclusion of files in the inventory list based on their sanctity and genuineness. 

This decision is a crucial step towards strengthening the LDA’s credibility and upholding its commitment to fair and transparent practices in land development.
