On Jan 21 this year, The CW TV Network released a reboot of Walker, the incredibly popular show that originally starred Chuck Norris. In its new avatar, it features Jared Padalecki (of Supernatural fame), and is a story of Cordell Walker a Texas Ranger who had been undercover for a few months and is now returning home. He is adamant about delving into what caused his wife’s death.

In the current show, Padelecki is shown to be grieving the loss of his wife and how he struggles to balance his professional and personal responsibilities. In the premiere, Cordell says that when it comes to the death of his wife, “some things don’t add up”. In the series he will attempt to reconnect with his kids, navigate differences with his family and discover unexpected mutual agreement with his new partner ; all this, while growing more suspicious about the cause of his wife’s death.

Other stars include Lindsey Morgan (Micki Ramirez) acts as Cordell’s partner, Matt Barr who pays Cordell’s best friend, Odette Annable (Supergirl) as an old friend of Walker, and Keegan Allen (Pretty Little Liars) playing Walker’s brother, and Genevieve Padalecki, (Jared’s real-life wife) plays the part of his late wife in the film and appears in flashback.

The show has a Supernatural element in it and has become the network’s most-watched premier in 5 years. The 2016 debut DC Legends of Tomorrow was the previous holder of this title. Walker attracted 2.43 Million viewers and is now the largest audience of any CW premier since The Flash’s debuted season 4 in 2017.

The show is aired in Supernatural’s older time slot. It goes down as the most-watched episode of any CW network show since 1 Jan 2018. In the pilot of this series, Padalecki succeeds in establishing an entirely new character in a totally new zone, where the ghosts exist only in Walker’s mind.

In his role as Walker, Jared’s character is very different from that of Sam Winchester, the role he played so well for the past 15 years in Supernatural. He now sports shorter hair, is wearing classic Ranger gear including cowboy hats and baseball caps.
