The Culinary team of The Vineyards California Armenian Home creates unforgettable long-term care experiences for our diverse senior population. No matter your role, you will help to provide a one-of-a-kind experience for our residents, guests, and staff.

Job Description

The Server / Waitstaff provides exceptional dining service to residents in a timely, courteous, efficient, and accurate manner with a sincerely pleasant and professional demeanor. He or she performs a variety of duties related to meal service, including greeting residents, taking orders, stocking, cleaning, catering, and dishing salads and desserts for meal service. In addition, the server / waitstaff must be aware of all dietary needs or restrictions for each resident and must follow proper sanitation standards and keep his or her workstation clean and sanitary at all times.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of food service experience. Experience in an assisted living community or long-term care setting is a plus. Candidates must have a pleasant and courteous personality, the physical ability to perform all aspects of this job (lifting, standing, bending, etc.), and must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS

At least one year of experience in an assisted living community preferred
Able to work a flexible schedule, which may include working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress.
Neat and clean appearance
High school diploma or GED preferred
Knowledge of general sanitary and safety practices
Helpful attitude and friendly demeanor
Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
Two years of experience preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES

Helps educate/train new staff members
Ensures that work areas are clean and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored
Follows safety and sanitation rules and practices
Helps bus and set tables and performs side-work as needed
Greets all residents in a warm, sincere, and helpful manner
Delivers room trays when needed
Communicates with residents and supervisors about dietary needs and restrictions and stays aware of diet changes
Portions and plates any salad or dessert items to be served during the meal service
Takes orders and serves meals and beverages promptly and courteously
Performs other duties as assigned
Attends required team meetings
Cleans floors and removes trash
Cleans work areas and all equipment used in food preparation
Clears tables of used dishes, glasses, and silverware during mealtimes
Ensures a proper supply of clean dishware, utensils, and glassware to stock the dining areas and set tables
Helps with dining room service when needed (pouring beverages, etc.)
