OMB NO: Expiration Date: 01/30/2025 Announcement #: 5344 Opening Date: 10 October 2023 Pay Plan/Series/Pay Band: NA-7408-03 Closing Date: Until Filled Work Schedule: Intermittent (0-19 hrs/wk) Position: Food Service Worker-03 Salary: $17.64 hour Who May Apply: All Sources Location: Elizabeth City, NC MWR E-City Hangar 7 DUTIES : The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of manual tasks in food preparation and food service areas such as preparing vegetables, salads, desserts, and other food items. Secures vegetables and washes, peels, slices, seeds, or mashes and delivers to kitchen for cooking. Season and pans meat for roasting, and breads chicken for frying. Slices cooked meats and prepare sandwiches. Wraps, arranges, and packages fruits, vegetables, sandwiches. Milk, bread, and condiments for box lunches for carry out or delivery to various designated areas. Prepares special salads, fruit trays, hors d oeuvres, and desserts to accommodate unique groups, such as formal dining-ins, buffets, and customers, traditions, or religion prevent the consumption of certain foods. Measures and mixes ingredients, such as, cooked potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, pickles, onions, mustard, mayonnaise, seasonings, and canned tuna in preparing salads: such as potatoes and tuna: deviled eggs, etc. Prepares tossed, individual, gelatin, and fruit salads: and coleslaw. Follows recipes and prepares salads dressing: such as French, Caesar, coleslaw, and others. Garnishes salads and delivers to kitchen for serving. Prepares malts and ice cream sundaes. Portions prescribed amount of desserts. Whips cream and applies to individual desserts. Arranges candy, soft drinks, malts, etc., on trays. Delivers desserts and trays setup to kitchen for serving. Cleans equipment in kitchen and dining area. Washes dishes, pots, pans, coffee urn, glasses, and flatware. Operates mechanical dishwasher. Maintains water and detergent levels in dishwasher; removes strainer pans, inspection doors, etc., for proper cleaning of dishwasher, inside and out; removes calcium deposits as required; and restores room to orderliness. Employee is responsible for independently completing work as scheduled after initial oral or written instructions when changes or new assignments are made. The supervisor periodically checks to see that work is done on time and according to instructions. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Work experience in a food service facility. 2. Experience with common sanitation standards in handling and serving food. 3. Must have the ability to read and understand written material and follow instructions and perform simple arithmetic. 4. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. 5. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Preferred (in addition to minimum): 1. Two years or more of food service experience.
