Lead Servers in our Assisted Living Culinary Department at Bishop Gadsden (James Island, SC) ensure front of the house operations are productive and successful by monitoring and directing our service team. Bishop Gadsden offers flexible life-friendly scheduling, a fun work environment, top pay and a community-minded atmosphere! The successful candidate will have compassion for and the desire to work with the elderly.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and ensure all employees are within Bishop Gadsden Dress and Appearance Policy.
  • Ensure all sanitation and nutrition practices are followed
  • Handle customer complaint in a professional and prompt manner
  • Responsible for smooth operation of Frederick Dining Room
  • Inspect and monitor completion of side work assignments
  • Plan and conduct service meetings with employees. • Adhere to all DHEC requirements.
  • Assist with training new staff for department.
  • Work with management to identify problem areas and work to help correct them as directed.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation among staff and with other operational departments.
  • Manager on Duty responsibilities to include supervision of team members, ensure that all areas of food service are operating at high standards.
  • Assist servers during meal service as needed.
  • Inventory maintenance for retail/bistro area. Place orders with purchaser as needed.
  • Handle ordering of Coke-A-Cola beverage product.
  • Ensure all closing procedures are followed, equipment turned off, dish area clean, doors locked, cash drawer secured
Qualifications
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Pleasant appearance and attitude for daily interaction with residents, families, co-workers, and public.
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with multiple customers at the same time
  • Ability to learn and use a computerized POS (point of sale) system
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl and to lift and/or carry weights of up to 50 pounds
Required Education and Experience
  • Prefer high school education or equivalent
  • Must have at least five years front of house experience
  • Previous supervisory experience is ideal
