A kitchen supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a restaurant's cooking operations, ensuring that everything runs smoothly on a daily basis.

They supervise, direct, and coordinate the activities of workers who prepare, portion, and serve food.

Some of their key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and coordinating the activities of staff who prepare, portion, and serve food.
  • Estimating and ordering ingredients and supplies required for meal preparation.
  • Preparing food order summaries for chefs according to requests from dieticians, patients in hospitals, or other customers.
  • Establishing work schedules and procedures.
  • Maintaining records of stock, repairs, sales, and wastage.
  • Training staff in job duties, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Supervising and checking the assembly of regular and special diet trays and delivery of food trolleys to hospital patients.
  • Ensuring that food and service meet quality control standards.
  • Kitchen supervisors are also responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area at all times. They adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines while preparing food items according to recipes and specifications. Additionally, they may participate in the selection of food service staff and assist in the development of policies, procedures, and budgets.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of kitchen management experience

  • ServSafe Food Handler certification (required)
