Food Safety Project Leader

Position Summary:

Major Responsibilities:

Food safety:

-Effectively oversee and manage Penske Logistics Food Safety Program. Oversee administrative preparation and continuous improvement for all regulatory requirements and additional customer required food safety auditing schemes. Maintain record compliance with regulatory documentation review. Communicate to relevant personnel information essential to the implementation and maintenance of Penske Logistics' Food Safety and Quality System. Accommodate and lead any and all regulatory visits and customer required audits that engage in food safety and or sanitation.

People:

-Actively engage daily with associates and leadership team in the warehouse to coach and recognize opportunities for superior food safety and sanitation conditions. Ensure that all supervisors understand how their work relates to the customers' business objectives. Oversee required and relevant Food Safety and Sanitation training programs. Build engagement by expressing pride in the group where the goals are met and recognize and reward associates for their achievements, Develop direct reports through training and succession planning.

Operations:

-Daily engagement and communication with the operations management team is a must to achieve superior facility conditions.

Interact regularly with our local customer to ensure we understand existing and emerging customer needs. Utilize team to identify operational improvements in areas such as quality assurance, trailer loading, inventory accuracy and warehouse operations, Collaborate with other Penske sites to share best practices, leverage resources/assets, etc.

Safety:

-Warehouse Safety Management.

-Monitor, Analyzation and Recommendations on all Health and Safety Procedures.

-Monitor and improve accident frequency, Ensure each associate understands their individual role and responsibilities, as well as the group's role and responsibilities required to achieve and maintain a safe work place, Proactively identify and correct unsafe conditions, work processes, and behaviors, Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures.

Growth / Customer Experience:

-Execute a process to track and record value delivered to the customer, Identify and seize profitable business opportunities, Utilize available metrics to monitor and maximize customer efficiencies and achieve cost savings.

Building:

-Works with all Building and Facility Management to ensure Food safety procedures are followed and equipment is in compliance with the food safety monitoring and calibration plan.

Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

-Minimum of 4 - 6 years related functional experience, including FDA and or USDA Food Safety Required.

-Must be willing to travel approximately 25% of work time to cover remote location

-At least 3 years Leader or supervisory experience required

-Experience in 3rd party Food Safety, Sanitation audits; GFSI preferred

-HACCP and FSMA Regulation Experience

-Pest Control knowledge and experience

-Comprehensive knowledge of warehouse safety management

-Effective communication skills, written and verbal

-Effective team building skills

-Ability to manage multiple projects, establish priorities, and accomplish goals & objectives

-High School degree or equivalent required

-Bachelor's Degree in Food Safety, Biology or Supply Chain Management preferred

-Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint required

-Analytical and problem solving skills

-Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
