As a Catering Sales Planner, you will be the driving force behind our success in the weddings and social events sector. Your role is a unique blend of sales, event planning, and execution. You will be responsible for generating new business, building client relationships, and ensuring flawless event experiences.

What you'll do:

  • Understand the features and benefits of our catering services thoroughly to effectively communicate with clients and address their questions.
  • Manage leads and inquiries through the entire sales cycle, from initial contact to contract signing. You will play a crucial role in shaping our client base and ensuring that our business attracts the most relevant and valuable customers.
  • Plan and execute events, including writing proposals, updating BEOS/event worksheets, coordinating and ordering rentals, staffing, and building packlists.
  • Schedule site tours with venues to gain understanding of setup needs and execute accordingly. Assist with determining floor plans/layouts, efficiently delegating space to ensure proper flow and ease of service, while supporting the overall catering operations.
  • Anticipate equipment and logistical needs. Quickly identify and resolve problems as they arise during events.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • Promote our services by networking and attending brand-aligned events/open houses.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitors, and market demand to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Build customized menus and experiences, working within budget guidelines.
  • Maintain constant communication with the back-of-house and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth event execution, while upholding all standards of Word of Mouth and MML Hospitality.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients by providing professional, courteous, and ethical customer service.
  • Collaborate with diverse team members and build cohesive teams for successful event execution.
  • Conduct post-event follow-up with clients as well as service team and close out all billing/financials for the event.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and revenue projections, and provide regular reports to the Director of Events.


  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the hospitality industry, with a proven track record in a sales role.
  • Strong knowledge of banquet/catering food and beverage service, policies, and operations.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Grace under pressure and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong negotiation and closing abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of wedding industry trends, traditions, and etiquette.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a willingness to acquire new skills.
  • Strong team-building and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
