The Banquet Server sets up, serves, cleans and tears down all food and beverage events. Primarily responsible for serving food and beverages to guests, the Banquet Server upholds service standards and addresses guest needs and work collaboratively with all departments. Reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager and under direction of the Banquet Captains, the Banquet Server is an essential team player to provide our guests with unforgettable experiences.

- Serves guests at banquets, meetings, trainings, events, conventions and conferences

- Cleans, resets and replenishes banquet room to ensure readiness of the room for other functions and food service
- Assists and supports the Banquet Captain with event flow, timeliness, and consistency of service
- Practices food safety and sanitation in accordance with Boise Centre standards and local, state and federal laws
- Engages guests, answers questions, and handles complaints in a professional manner
- Sets and arranges place settings and buffet lines for service
- Serves food and beverage in the appropriate order and according to event expectations
- Clears and quickly removes each meal course as guests finish
- Replenish beverages when necessary, and checks with guests to ensure their needs are met
- Cleans and breaks down banquet and buffet service equipment including all glassware and china
- Maintains a clean event space by removing unclean glassware and trash
- Carries and handles glassware, silverware, and dishware safely
- Attends pre-shift meetings before event service to learn event details and client expectations
- Assists and supports other Banquet staff in serving guests and attending guest needs
- Verifies guest identification to confirm legal drinking age
- Monitors and controls guest alcohol consumption and enforces alcohol policies
- Performs a variety of related tasks and duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Customer service experience, preferred
- Must be willing to become TIPS Certified by City of Boise
- Basic knowledge of service standards, guest relations, and food service etiquette
- Provides timely and thorough customer service to internal and external customers
- Ability to work in a team environment and receive feedback and direction
- Ability to perform multiple functions in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in a high-stress, high-volume work environment
- Ability to handle time sensitive delivery of services and emergencies
- Ability to prioritize tasks and be flexible with changes in work loads
- Ability to read, understand, and carry out simple and detailed written or verbal instructions
- Ability to use professional radio etiquette
- Assesses multiple demands and priorities and identifies necessary resources to handle critical work demands
- Communicates regularly within department and cross functional teams
