About The Job!

This is a part time seasonal position from 11/03/2023 to 12/31/2023. Under the direct supervision of the PSA Supervisor, the Polar Express Chef is responsible for creating magical memories and ensuring the quality of our passenger's experience while on board the Polar Express Train. Duties include but not limited to: ensuring passenger safety, playing the character of a Polar Express Chef, helping children and adults of all ages enjoy their holiday train ride. This position requires good judgment skills and the ability to communicate in a professional manner.

Wage: $17.20 + tips!

Schedule: (Part time is a 2 day work week minimum)

Shuttle Service:
  • From Flagstaff to Williams and return to Flagstaff.
  • Limited Capacity.
Responsibilities
  • Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
  • Communicate announcements over microphone giving verbal instructions for up to 90 passengers.
  • Responsible for knowing classic holiday carols and the willingness to lead the song in front of passengers.
  • Prep train cars for daily train ride to department standards
  • Moves about the train safely while serving hot chocolate and cookies to the passengers
  • Adapts to the Polar Express Chef role and get into character during the train trip
  • Responsible for Bio-Hazard clean-ups as necessary.
  • Works as a team player and demonstrates good communication skills at all times.
  • Effectively handles stressful situations in a public setting and resolves guest related problems in a professional manner.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective professional working relationship with co-workers, directors, and other departments; working together in a positive work environment.
  • Maintains schedule flexibility, working scheduled days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Shifts are 6+/- hours per day.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to all Ecologix prescribed Environmental Management Systems (EMS) policies and corporate commitments to maintain ISO 14001 goals and guidelines; reduce, reuse and recycle program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to read, write, and speak English; communicate professionally, effectively and clearly face-to-face, and in written communication.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in theatrical role playing.
  • Customer Service experience in a hospitality industry
Basic Competencies:
  • Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications, follow detailed directions).
  • Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions).
  • Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills).
Employment Conditions:
  • Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries.
  • Work safely to ensure company equipment is secure.
  • Wear protective equipment as required by the job duties.
  • Required to complete safety training related to the job: Rail Road Safety 101.
  • Work hours will include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work as needed.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly standing, squatting/kneeling and lifting/carrying items up to 20bs.
  • Frequently walking, reaching outward, climbing, lifting/carrying items up to 50lbs and pushing/pulling up to 25lbs.
  • Occasionally sitting, reaching above shoulder, crawling, lifting/carrying items weighing up to 100lbs and pushing/pulling items weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking.
  • Will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces and onboard moving train.
