General Qualifications:

The Summer Staff Catering Assistant is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.'s ("MHA") mission, vision and beliefs. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA's Christian community, conference programs, and retreats.

Position Objective

The Summer Staff Catering Assistant will clean dishes, equipment and the kitchen area as needed, and will assist the Food Service staff and cooks with food preparation to offer high quality of food products and service to guests in a manner consistent with MHA's mission, vision and values.

Key Job Accountabilities

• Assist the Food Service staff in preparing, transporting, and serving meals.
• Assist in setting up and preparing the location for meal service.
• Maintain a clean, organized, transportation vehicle, catering equipment and well-stocked kitchen.
• Assist with communication to the kitchen staff- ensuring appropriate food quantities are provided and all special dietary needs are accommodated.
• Communicate and partner with the other food service staff to ensure all dining and meal details, needs, concerns, and issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
• Assist in the cleaning and restocking of the area after each meal service.
• Ensure guest satisfaction and provide a memorable visit through provision of exceptional guest service (friendly, safe, efficient, thorough, and ministry-minded).
• Assist with communication to the Food Service Director and/or the Executive Chef about catering.
• Facilitate and maintain clean and sanitary food service areas and equipment, communicating facility needs to the maintenance department.
• Other duties as assigned.

• None.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least one year of college due to on-site community living requirement.
• Food Handler's Card.

Work Experience

• No experience necessary. Willingess to be trained to specifics of the job.

• Highly detailed oriented, yet able to keep the big picture in mind and respond accordingly.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift and carry at least 30 pounds.
• Ability to stand and move around the majority of the workday.
• Ability to squat, lift and carry loads using hands and arms with repetitive motions.
• Ability to work safely around dish machine and chemicals.
• Must be at least 18 years of age due to the requirement for on-site community living.
• Will be assigned a secondary role(s).
• Must have or have the ability to acquire a California Food Handler's Card.
• Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA's Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
• Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
• Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
