Banquet Steward - Full Time

Q Center is looking for a Full Time Banquet Steward to join our team!

Job Summary

The Banquet Steward is responsible for servicing catered functions by ensuring accurate inventory for all supplies, equipment and linen. They may also be required to assist in Banquet and Dining Functions in the Server role periodically.

The starting rate for this position is $17/hour.

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Customer service experience required and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to calculate amount of equipment and linen for events required.
  • BASSET and Food Handler certifications or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts holding heavy equipment.
Fundamental Requirements
  • Associates must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests and fellow associates.
  • Keep immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring their attention.
  • Perform preparatory tasks and side work duties to ensure that guests are served promptly and efficiently.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • Read and understand the staff packet, Banquet Event Order and work order provided for each event.
  • Pull and deliver all required linen, skirting, and other heavy equipment required to set up catering event, such as: chaffers, flatware, glassware, pans and props.
  • Take all clean dish racks and glass racks to proper storage areas.
  • Order and receive linen order from laundry and rental companies; make sure all dirty rental linen is returned to the rental company on the due date.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all banquet areas, including taking out garbage, sweeping and mopping floors, straightening of Catering Storerooms before shift ends and afterwards.
  • Transport equipment from site to site; ensure there is sufficient storage racks in which to place dirty dishes, silver, glassware and pans.
  • Deliver food to the site of the event.
  • Handle and store all banquet equipment properly and with care.
  • Perform duties of a server in the dining room or at banquet functions, when necessary, by assisting with the set-up, service and break down of food and beverages to guests.
  • Responsible for prop, glassware, flatware and linen inventory.
