Our Journey of Mom and Pop's Diner and Our Little Slice of Paradise
Mom & Pop's Diner is a family owned, second-generation restaurant. Doug's Parents, Sidney and Sally Cramer owned their first successful restaurant in southern California before moving to Palm Springs and turning their business over to their son, Doug Cramer. Six months later, Sidney Cramer told Doug, "Retirement is Boring", and so he came back and worked with Doug for ten years. Doug followed in his parents footsteps as a successful restaurateur, opening two restaurants in southern California prior to the Cramer family venturing to northern Nevada.
Doug and his dad, Sidney, opened Pop's BBQ in Carson City in 1995, getting its name from Doug's father. When Doug and Jamesa met in 1998, the second-generation Cramers officially took over. To date, Mom & Pop's Diner has been successfully serving downtown Carson City, Nevada for the past 21 years. The family atmosphere and good food are mere reflections of the owners, Doug and Jamesa. Their children also participate in the workings of the restaurant.
Jamesa is the artist in the family. She knew at a young age while finger painting, that she had a talent and wanted to pursue her art. She has painted most of the murals throughout Mom and Pop's Diner. Doug and Jamesa always update the art and decor looking out for new interesting pieces while on their travels.
