PT Hire turns to MAN trucks for business growth

PT Hire, one of the UK’s leading providers of flexible truck rentals, has placed a landmark order with MAN Truck and Bus UK for 205 new TGX 26.510 6×2 tractors and a further 75 used units.

The order, for 280 tractors in total, boosts the PT Hire fleet to more than 700 vehicles and ensures the continuity of their flexible Truck rental packages to offer customers the latest generation vehicles.

Stuart Dytham, CEO and company chairman founded the Swadlincote-based business in 2010.

Today, with his wife Ann and the help of both his daughter Becky and son Tim, the family business prides itself in offering customers cost-effective commercial vehicle rental solutions, exceptional customer service and tailored packages created to suit individual operator needs.

‘We’ve offered our customers MAN Trucks’

Mr Dytham said: “Over the years, we’ve offered our customers MAN Trucks simply because of the reliability and efficiencies they offer.

“The new generation MAN trucks receive rave reviews from operators; during conversations and regular feedback sessions we hear how good both MPG and driver acceptance is.”

He added: “Ensuring our fleet is fresh, up to date in terms of the latest technology, in perfect working order and 100% turnkey ready is key to us meeting the needs of our growing customer base.

“We offer a nationwide service to our customers and at all times we feel we have the focussed support of MAN and their commercial vehicle dedicated dealer network.”

First vehicles arrived at the start of April

The first five new vehicles arrived at the start of April and following preparation and PDI at MAN franchised partner DSV Commercials Ltd in Immingham, have already gone out to PT Hire customers.

The 205 new vehicles will all feature the TGX’s range-topping GX cabs and will be powered by the efficient and environmentally friendly MAN six-cylinder D26 510 hp 12.4 litre, Euro 6 step E engines.

The latest generation D26 engine has proven to be gentle on service costs and frugal on fuel.

Not only are they proving more efficient than their predecessors in service, but these engines are also lighter therefore improving payload efficiency, which in turn positively impacts fleet total cost of ownership (TCO) and vehicle whole life performance.

‘We supply vehicles to our customers’

Mr Dytham said: “It’s imperative that as a service provider we ensure that we supply vehicles to our customers that are both user friendly and efficient.

“The first five vehicles went out to KJG Transport Ltd of Grimsby and although it’s early days, the feedback we’ve had from their managing director, Kevin Gray, is very encouraging indeed.”PT Hire’s new MAN TGX’s feature a host of advanced safety systems: including Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) and Lane Guard System (LGS). Included in the specification is the Electronic Parking Brake, which applies automatically when the vehicle is parked, with the gearbox in neutral and the ignition key removed.
