Brexit campaign launched for truckers

Brexit may feel like a farce, but the UK is starting to take the idea of no-deal seriously..

The UK government has announced a multi-million-pound Campaign across Europe to make sure businesses and hauliers are ready when the UK leaves the EU on 31 October. The campaign is designed to Ensure Hauliers have everything they need from traders to keep goods moving across borders smoothly and reduce the risk of delays.

The campaign will include billboard and media advertising, 15 pop-up centres across ten countries, and multi-language information handbooks. Emails have been sent to 70,000 UK operators, industry bodies and other interested parties giving them detailed information about driving across UK borders after 31 October.

The email explains that if the UK leaves the EU without a deal, hauliers will be required to go through customs checks when exporting goods to the EU from the UK. It is up to traders to apply and obtain the necessary paperwork for the goods inside a truck.

Speaking about the campaign, Road Haulage Association (RHA) chief executive Richard Burnett said: “Traders, haulage operators in particular, simply don’t have time to digest and implement the small print. They need to know, right now, how to get through the next few months.” He continued: “This campaign will ensure hauliers get everything they need from traders to get through border customs smoothly, thereby reducing the risk of holdups at ports and ferry terminals.”

Let’s see where we all stand on 31 October.
