MakeMyTrip Foundation has announced that it is taking immediate action in response to the severe devastation caused by heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. According to an official statement, the foundation has allocated INR 5 crore towards relief efforts.

To effectively carry out the relief operations, the foundation will collaborate with various on-ground partners, government bodies, experts, NGOs, and local communities. Their objective is to swiftly implement measures that address the urgent needs resulting from the extensive damages caused by the recent flooding in these regions.

Deep Kalra, the Founder and Chairman of MakeMyTrip and also a Trustee of MakeMyTrip Foundation, emphasized the pressing requirement to provide essential resources to support the affected people in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. He acknowledged the challenging circumstances faced by these mountain states and stressed the importance of a collective effort from everyone. Deep further mentioned that even small contributions can significantly contribute to the emergency response and improve the lives of the local communities who graciously host visitors to their home state.

The state of Himachal Pradesh has experienced widespread destruction due to heavy rainfall, resulting in cloudbursts, landslides, and floods. Official data released last week indicates that the calamity has tragically claimed the lives of 108 individuals thus far.

Out of all the affected states in North India, Himachal Pradesh has been the most severely impacted. Consequently, Union Home Minister Amit has approved the early release of the second installment of the central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), amounting to INR 180.40 crore.

The Uttarakhand State Disaster Response Force (STRF) has been actively engaged in rescue operations within the Haridwar district. They recently saved a pregnant woman and a young girl from the town of Laksar in Uttarakhand, which had been engulfed by floods.

Upon receiving information about a small girl in critical condition within a waterlogged house, SDRF promptly reached the location in Laksar, Haridwar district. They successfully rescued the girl and transported her to a nearby hospital, ensuring her safety and well-being.
