On May 10th, Ola Foundation announced that they would partner with donation platform Give India to provide customers with oxygen concentrators, adding to the rising list of corporations donating to relief efforts as the COVID pandemic enters its deadly second wave.

With an initial range of 500 oxygen concentrators, the service, which will be delivered for free via the Ola app, will begin rolling out in Bengaluru this week. In the coming weeks, Ola and GiveIndia intend to expand it across the country with up to 10,000 concentrators, according to a tweet.

Customers use the  app to order an oxygen concentrator by submitting few simple information. The order will be checked after which Ola will pick up the concentrator in one of its cabs with a specially qualified driver and deliver it to the customer’s entrance.

Once the patient has improved and no longer uses the concentrator, Ola will collect it and return it to GiveIndia, where it will be prepared for the next patient in need.

As India deals with the impact of the 2nd wave, hospitals around the country are experiencing a shortage of medical oxygen and beds. People searching for oxygen tubes, hospital beds, plasma donors, and ventilators are making SOS calls on social media.

“In these unprecedented days, we must band together to support our communities.” Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO of Ola, said, “We hope this initiative provides much-needed assistance during these very tough times and helps in mitigating the pain and distress among those impacted.”

Organizations from all walks of life have stepped up to source and donate oxygenators, breathing machines, and ventilators.

Razorpay, a digital payments solutions company, announced that it has introduced a ‘Donate Now’ option on the payment checkout website. Within seven days of its launch, over 2,000 retailers had enabled the feature, and partner NGOs had raised nearly INR 20 crore via Razorpay’s portal.

Paytm, a leading fintech company has announced that it will provide its Payment Gateway services to all registered NGOs across the country at no transaction fees on donations INR 10 lakh, to help them secure the most resources towards COVID relief efforts.

Various organizations such as RapiPay, iCreate, Red Carbon Techno Hub, Collabera Technologies, and others contribute to the recovery efforts and assist the country in tackling the second wave of the Coronavirus.
