  1. Did You know

… that today is Kick a Football Day? In a 1951 “Peanuts” comic strip, we see Charlie Brown attempt to kick a football for the first time.

In that strip Violet, not Lucy, is the one holding the ball, and she only pulls it away because she is afraid Charlie Brown will kick her hand.

Lucy was first shown playing the prank on Charlie Brown on November 16, 1952. Help him out today by going out and successfully kicking a football! ;-

  1. Today’s Inspirational Quote:

“Laughter heals all wounds, and that’s one thing that everybody shares. No matter what you’re going through, it makes you forget about your problems. I think the world should keep laughing.”

— Kevin Hart

  1. Wisdom Quote and/or Daily Riddle.

When none challenge your ideas it is especially important to closely evaluate them.

Whatever you do in life, surround yourself with smart people who’ll argue with you. (John Wooden)

All it takes to change your world is to change the way you think.
Change your thoughts and you change your world. (Norman Vincent Peale)

  1. WhatsApp Gyan shared by friends:

David Wee wrote this today

“HOW DO YOU BUILD RELATIONSHIPS?

  1. Build relationships one at a time. Fortunately or unfortunately, there are no short cuts.  Sending out a newsletter helps you keep in touch with lots of folks, but it’s no substitute for getting to know a real person.
  2. Be friendly and make a connection. This may seem self-evident, but a friendly word or smile can make someone’s day.  Try to find something in common: all of us want to have close connections with our fellow humans.
  3. Ask people questions.  People love to talk about themselves and about what they think. If you ask people about themselves and then take the time to listen attentively, they can become your fast friend.
  4. Tell people about yourself.  People won’t trust you unless you are willing to trust them.  Tell them what you genuinely care about and what you think.
  5. Go places and do things.  If you want to make friends, you have to go where the people are: networking, picnics, conferences, events, fundraisers, parties, playgrounds, bowling alleys, little league games, bake sales, etc..
  6. Accept people the way they are.  You don’t have to agree with them all the time in order to form a relationship with them.  No one likes to be judged.
  7. Assume other people want to form relationships, too. Underneath the crabbiest looking person is often a lonely soul hoping someone will make a crack in their shell.
  8. Overcome your fear of rejection.  If you want to form relationships, plan on being rejected some of the time. You will be richly rewarded the rest of the time with the new relationships you have made.
  9. Be persistent.  People are often shy and suspicious.  It takes a while to win trust. You can almost always form a relationship if you stick with it
  10. Invite people to get involved.  People want to become part of something bigger than themselves.  Many people are looking for an opportunity to meet other people who share common goals.  At the worst, people will be flattered that you invited them to join.
  11. Enjoy people.  If you genuinely enjoy people, others will be attracted to your attitude.  People will more likely want to be around you.”

11.I found this most interesting in Newsletters and I am learning to be as precise, concise and apt in writing.

3-2-1 Thursday Note: You are receiving this email because you subscribed to my weekly newsletter. Every Thursday, I send out my “3-2-1” newsletter with 3 ideas from me, 2 quotes from others, and 1 question for you to ponder. Once or twice per month, I also send out long-form articles on how to live better.

3 ideas, 2 quotes, 1 question (November 14, 2019)]

“The most wisdom per word of any newsletter on the web.” Read this on JamesClear.com

Happy Thursday Here are 3 ideas, 2 quotes, and 1 question for the week…

3 IDEAS FROM ME

  1. The surest way to prevent yourself from learning a topic is to believe you already know it.
  2. The longer I live, the more I notice how valuable it is to do one simple thing: be kind. – When someone does a good job, tell them. – When someone makes a mistake, forgive them. – When someone tells you their problems, listen. Being kind barely costs a thing. You’ll hardly remember you did it, but the other person may never forget that you did.

III.  For my final thought, a quote from Atomic Habits: It doesn’t matter how successful or unsuccessful you are right now. What matters is whether your habits are putting you on the path toward success. You should be far more concerned with your current trajectory than with your current results. If you’re a millionaire but you spend more than you earn each month, then you’re on a bad trajectory; if your spending habits don’t change, it’s not going to end well. Conversely, if you’re broke, but you save more than you spend every month, then you’re on the path toward financial freedom—even if you’re moving slower than you’d like.

2 QUOTES FROM OTHERS

  1. Author Elizabeth Gilbert on time management: “If you’ve reached a certain age then you know what works for you. You should know by this point in your life what time of day you’re ‘good’ — like what time of day is your brain at its best. Because the reality is we all get, maybe, two good hours a day where we actually feel awake and alert. “And the big, important question is: Who currently gets that time from you. The best time from your brain every day—who or what currently gets that? And would you be willing to take it back so that it’s yours and then give the world the ‘second-rate’ version of you (which is the other 22 hours of the day)…” Source: Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, episode #111: Elizabeth Gilbert
  2. The second quote today is from author Leo Tolstoy:  “If you want to do a good deed, do it now. The time will pass, and you will not have the chance again.” Source: A Calendar of Wisdom

1 QUESTION FOR YOU

If you were forced to work for just one hour per day, what would you work on during that hour to be most effective? Until next week,

James Clear

Author of the New York Times bestselling book, Atomic Habits

Creator of The Habits Academy and the Habit Journal
