Some Common Rules for a Meeting

These are some Common Rules that everyone should follow in a meeting:

Know who is leading the meeting and who it is meant to listen to.

Each meeting should be pointed at achieving some goal. There is always a person who is the one liable for the discussion and chooses what to discuss. Meetings without planning is generally directionless and unfruitful.

Choose the venue carefully.

Environment plays a significant role in the effectiveness of any meeting. Always go for a meeting room that is fully equipped and offers some privacy. The meeting rooms in Delhi and NCR are well-furnished with the latest equipment, which helps run a smooth meeting.

Clear the objectives and priorities.

Discussions take time, and time increases depending on the number of people joining the debate, so choose the right people required to participate. Whatever the argument is, try to limit the people participating in setting the objectives on time.

Stick to the topic.

This is Common- floating from topic to topic without reaching to a common point. One of the best ways to avoid this is by tracking the conversation on a whiteboard or a flip chart so that everyone is on the same page.

Make the conversations logical.

People’s emotions can heat up when there is a difference in opinion. Try to remain calm and analytical while in a meeting; it is more difficult to shut down a logical exchange than an emotional one.

Make sure you don’t lose your accountability in group decision making.

Groups will choose to do something without specifying the responsibilities, so it is not clear who is supposed to follow up by doing what. Be clear in assigning personal responsibilities.
