How to import cars from Japan to Poland



Situated in the heart of the central Europe is Poland. Poland is a major tourist destination and the auto industry is not very strong. The import barriers are low in Poland. Cars which need to be imported should have gone road worthiness test, tested within 3 years, then within 2 years and from then on once a year. Poland is a left hand drive country and only left hand drive cars are allowed to be imported.

The vehicle importer should get the car registered in his name and should be in Poland Full time. In case he is returning to Poland from a third country as his temporary residence, the person should atleast been out for a year and should have used the car for at least for 6 months.  A person can only get one of each type vehicle, motorcycle or trailer. Below are the documents required to import vehicles.

·         Purchase Invoice
·         Original Bill of Lading
·         Original vehicle documents proving ownership
·         Proof of insurance

All the tax and duties should be paid for cars imported from EU. A certificate of origin will speed up the process of custom officials assessing the duties. If you are a returning citizen with the car then you need to show the certificate of ownership for at least six months to get exemption from tax and duty while importation. Any car imported to Poland cannot be sold or rented or used by other person at least for 1 year.

The shipper needs to fill notarized Power of Attorney to have the vehicle shipped and imported to Poland, if the form is not filled the shipper needs to be present at the time of clearance.
