A dentist takes care of the smile, an ophthalmologist specializes in eye care, and an entrepreneur brings up finance in the economy. As every profession has a pre-decided and specific role, pursuing all of them takes a lot of efforts. One such similar story of multiple dreams is of Dr. Jack Kavanaugh, a dentist, an ophthalmologist, and a celebrated businessman.
After doing his dentistry from the University of California, Los Angeles, JackKavanaugh began his career. While practicing as a dentist, he served as CEO to a company that owned a chain of clinics in Nevada and California. After practicing for almost ten years, a hapless accident gave him a neck injury, ultimately stopping him to continue as a dentist.
At this point, he stepped forward to the University of California, where he pursued an MBA degree. After this, in the year 1984, he co-founded the International Strategy Consulting Group. However, his zest to learn brought him back to medical sciences and he earned his M.D. degree from the University of Southern California. He completed his surgical residency from the Jules Stein Institute of U.C.L.A. and till the year 2008, he remained a visiting professor at U.C.L.A.
With his diverse skills, Dr. Kavanaugh founded a health care service provider, Amerident during the first year of his residency. The amenities provided was honored with 30 community service awards, their work with the infants honored them with state congressional medal of honor.
Adding to his contribution towards medical sciences, one name is of a biotechnology firm, Calhoun Vision, Inc., that is known for developing the first in the world and only light adjustable intraocular lens for cataract surgery. He served this firm as a member of the board from 2000 and as the Chairman from 2008 to 2012.
In the year 2008, Dr. Jack formed ZetaRx Biosciences, Inc., a leading name in immunotherapy for the treatment of cancer, he served as the CEO and Chairman for the company until June 2012. Along with Dr. David Home and Dr. Larry Overman, in the year 2014, he co-founded Novonco Therapeutics, Inc. This firm was a proven leader in platform therapeutic research and focused on different approaches to cancer therapeutics, histone methyltransferase inhibitors.
Dr. JackKavanaugh is an active supporter of several charitable efforts, including Art of Elysium, The Virginia Robinson Gardens, Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and City of Hope National Medical Center, California.
