On the 18th of December, the Department of Justice announced the charges relates to the purported theft of sensitive information from companies in the St Louis area and also threats to release this information unless a ransom was paid in BTC(bitcoin).

39 Years Wyatt  Nathan begged  not guilty to  being charged for aggravated identity theft, who threatened to destroy a protected computer conspiring to commit those and other computer fraud offenses and was  detained and is waiting for further proceedings.

He is said to be a member of the “Dark Overlord” hacking group since 201y and in Nov 2017, he was indicted by federal grand jury.

His detainment was a joint Co operative between FBI and U.K law enforcement. 

The special FBI Agent,Richard Quinn explained further :

“Cyber hackers may no longer use territorial borders to shield themselves from accountability. 

Successful the case is an example of how the FBI works with international law enforcement partners to bring alleged perpetrators to justics.. 

The DO group was in charge  for controlling and accessing multiple corporate networks without any authorization,getting information and also threatened to release data on criminal market places unless the Victims paid ransom in Bitcoin(btc).

In St Louis area, victims in healthcare providers, accounting firms and others. 

Wyatt’s is conspired to creating emails addresses and phone accounts used to send extortionate and threatening messages to certain victims.

A blog published that the data suggested that the scammers may have  recently be turning away from demanding for cryptocurrencies ransomes in preference of the prepaid debit cards.
