With an initial investment of $770,000 approved by the McAllen City Commission, the McAllen Fire Department acquired a brand-new Metro Fire Apparatus-Fire Engine equipped with a 750 gallon on-board water tank and various equipment for firefighting operations. The truck is also equipped with a 1,500 gallons per minute water pump, and specialized vehicle rescue equipment.
This new fire truck will be housed temporarily at Central Fire Station, but will be permanently stationed at the soon-to-be-built Fire Station 8 that will be located in the Tres Lagos Subdivision.
